Layover in Tangier?
How to make your waiting time at the airport as enjoyable as possible.
Managing Your Layover Time
Tangier Airport is an increasingly popular transit point. How you spend your layover depends entirely on its duration.
Short Layover (Under 4 hours)
If your layover is short, leaving the airport is strongly discouraged. Security and passport control can be thorough and time-consuming.
- The VIP Lounge: This is the best option. The Pearl Lounge offers fast Wi-Fi, snacks, and comfortable seating.
- Shopping & Dining: Take advantage of the Duty-Free area or grab a Moroccan coffee at the kiosks in the boarding hall.
Medium Layover (5 to 8 hours)
You have enough time for a quick getaway! The airport is only 15–20 minutes by taxi from the city center (traffic permitting).
- Take a "Grand Taxi" outside the airport terminal.
- Ask to be dropped off near Place du 9 Avril (Grand Socco).
- Take a one-hour stroll through the Kasbah, enjoy a mint tea overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar (for example at the iconic Café Hafa), and head back.
Long Layover / Overnight (Over 8 hours)
Do not spend the night on airport benches. Book a hotel located along the corridor between the airport and the city center (Free Zone area or Boukhalef) for optimal rest. The next day, you will be just 10 minutes from the airport for your upcoming flight.
